There will probably be a new iPhone SE next year, but the new design will make the budget iPhone much more expensive. You need to know this.
The new iPhone SE is becoming more expensive again
Rumors have been appearing for some time about the next generation iPhone SE, which will receive a major update compared to the current model. One of the main selling points of the iPhone SE is its relatively low price, which will probably increase slightly.
According to @Revegnus1 on X (formerly Twitter), the iPhone SE could become about 10 percent more expensive. At Apple you currently pay 529 euros for the iPhone SE 2022 with 64 GB. With a 10 percent increase, the new price would be around 582 euros. There are now many places where you can buy the iPhone SE 2022 cheaper, for around € 421.95. An additional ten percent then becomes approximately 473 euros.
It is quite common for Apple to increase the price of products, especially when they get many new functions and a redesign. This also happened, for example, with the entry-level model of the tenth generation iPad, which went from 389 to 439 euros. In any case, it is expected that the price of the iPhone SE will remain below 600 euros at Apple. With other providers you will probably get the phone for a (much) lower price.
Same design as the iPhone 14
According to the latest rumors, the iPhone SE 4 will have the same design as the iPhone 14, with a 6.1-inch OLED screen, flat edges and Face ID. The current SE model is still based on the iPhone 8 design with a 4.7-inch LCD screen and a home button with Touch ID.
So it’s not really a surprise that the iPhone SE 4 will become more expensive. But how Apple will distinguish the new SE from the iPhone 14 is still unclear. The iPhone 14 currently costs 869 euros from Apple. That price will drop later this year when the iPhone 16 is launched, bringing the prices even closer together. In other places you can currently buy the iPhone 14 for around € 693.95.
According to recent rumors, Apple is also working on a new ultra-slim iPhone for 2025, which will be even more expensive than the current Pro Max model. If that’s the case, the entire iPhone lineup could become more expensive in 2025. According to The Information Apple plans to introduce the iPhone SE 4 in spring 2025.
