New logo for Vauxhall

Vauxhall joins a fast-growing list of car manufacturers introducing a new emblem. Like many others, the British opt for a more two-dimensional logo.

Many car manufacturers are rapidly adopting a ‘new brand identity’. It is generally hung on ‘more focus on the digital world’ and the ‘transition phase of the car industry’. Vauxhall is the next brand to change its logo for similar reasons. To be fair, it is an extremely subtle change.

The current logo (photo 2) is roughly flattened into a 2D version, in which the silver of the past has been completely replaced by the Vauxhall red that was previously only present in the background. On the cars of Opel’s sister brand, the logo will continue to stand out in silver on a black background, as is already the case now. However, the 3D effect on and around the Griffioen has virtually disappeared there. On the new Mokka, Vauxhall will be wearing that modified version of the emblem for the first time.

Previously, Volkswagen, Nissan, Opel and Kia, among others, already came with similarly modified emblems. Peugeot is an exception, which harks back to the past with its new logo, although the ‘2D vision’ has also been released.
