New Mercedes-AMG C 53 Estate on the road

Mercedes-Benz is a little busy testing the new C-class. Less than a week ago we saw the Estate pass by again, now it is registered as a Mercedes-AMG C53.

The Mercedes-AMG C53 emerged almost a year ago as a sedan. In the meantime, it has not been considered necessary to slow down a lot with the camouflage material, but fortunately the ‘normal’ C-class Estate spotted last week already gives a good picture of what can be expected of it. As usual, this AMG-prepped version gets some thicker bumper work and four hefty tailpipes and is lower on its larger wheels. We can expect the biggest news if we can open the hood in due course.

There you will find in the C53 – which takes over from the C43 – namely a four-cylinder. After all, the sports department of Mercedes-Benz has also been given the task of limiting CO2 emissions. Mak will not become the sporty subtopper. Mercedes-AMG will probably use an electric motor to assist the combustion engine, although the blown 2.0-liter four-cylinder could possibly also do it alone in the C53. The fact that the Germans are able to get a lot of power from a four-cylinder, is proven with the A45. With its barely 390 hp in terms of power, it already achieves the current C43 and as the A45 S it even goes a step further. For the C63 it can hardly be otherwise that there is additional electrical power to arrive at comparable values with the four-cylinder as with the current generation.

The new C-class, which we recently looked ahead extensively, expect to arrive in the course of this year. The AMG versions may then appear just before the end of 2021.
