No 2+2?

The new Mercedes-AMG GT will soon be the coupé version of the SL, but it still looks very similar to its predecessor. We see that again in these new photos, which a reader sent us.

The new SL is a lot sportier than its predecessor and also always comes from Mercedes-AMG. Not without reason, because the SL should not only make you forget the previous SL and S-class Cabriolet, but also the AMG GT Roadster. There will also be – in short – a closed SL and that will be the successor to the AMG GT, only it will simply be called AMG GT. Of course, the new AMG GT will be a bit more than an ‘SL CoupĂ©’, it clearly follows the example of the previous one with its lines and it is not very likely that it will be a 2+2 like the SL.

In these photos, taken in Altea, Spain by an AutoWeek reader, we see the rear window of the new Mercedes-AMG GT better than ever. In previous photos it was still partly taped. No surprises here either compared to the previous AMG GT, although the window seems to run a little deeper and so there is possibly a little more view to the rear for the driver. Furthermore, it is now better than before to see what is happening behind the seats and it indeed seems very likely that it will remain with two seats.

Like the SL, there will probably be a 55 and 63 variant of the Mercedes-AMG GT. They have 476 hp and 585 hp 4.0 V8 in the nose respectively. A more than 800 hp plug-in hybrid E-Performance version is logically also in the pipeline.
