New Mercedes-Benz Citan easier to see

The new Mercedes-Benz Citan has once again shown up on public roads for testing. Fortunately, this time the car is packed less firmly than last time and so we see a bit more of the German Renault Kangoo brother.

A month ago, Renault pulled the curtain off the brand-new Kangoo and that is of great importance for the next Mercedes-Benz Citan. The car that we still see camouflaged around here is in fact that Kangoo. Grab the Frenchman, come up with a Mercedes nose and you have roughly the new Citan in front of you. The fact that the nose is now a bit less wrapped makes it extra clear what it will look like. The shape of the headlights is clearly visible and it seems that the front of the Citan is a bit like the B-class. The rear lights can now also be seen carefully and those eyes are a bit more compact than is now the case.

That the Citan is in fact a Kangoo is good news for electric van enthusiasts. The Kangoo also appears again as ZE and we recently heard that the Mercedes will also get a fully electric variant. That’s new to the Citan. Also new is the separate name for the personal version. Mercedes-Benz announced the T-class last summer. We bet that this is the luxury passenger version of the Citan. Then it follows the same nomenclature as the bigger brothers Vito and V-class. We expect the Citan to be unveiled early in the new year. The market introduction will certainly be delayed until the summer. The T-class will not follow until early 2022.
