Mini has a completely new range of models in the development rooms with the first coming in 2023. One of those newcomers is a Countryman revised down to the tiniest nut. AutoWeek can already show you the first images of the new Mini Countryman.

Like almost every other car manufacturer, whether or not forced by European climate targets and associated legislation, Mini also has big plans in the EV area. The brand will be launching a series of new models within the next few years, the first of which will hit the market in 2023. Earlier this week, Mini released the first photos of an all-new three-door electric hatchback – the successor to the current Mini Electric – and now AutoWeek can show you the upcoming Countryman.

Mini has a lot in store for the third generation Countryman. The new Mini Countryman seems to be a bit bigger than the model that will remain in the showrooms of Mini at least until 2023. Of course, this has to do with the new platform on which the car will stand, a basis that the SUV will share with the next generation of the BMW X1. The upcoming Countryman will soon be available again with combustion engines, but it seems very likely that Mini will also supply the Countryman with an electric powertrain. After all, the X1 will also get an electric version.

Mini Country Man (2023)

That electric Countryman is not the variant that you see in these photos, as is apparent from the visible exhaust pipes and the lack of warning stickers that indicate the presence of an electric powertrain. As much as the new Mini Countryman will differ from the current model, the design seems to be so recognizable. Anyone who takes a quick look might just think that this is just the current Countryman in a misleading jacket. But if you look closely, you will see that everything is different. The complete windows are different, the doors and the handles in them are also completely new, just like the roofline, the windscreen and many other points. The side mirrors move from the doors to the A-pillars and the hood no longer extends all around to the wheel arches and grille.

The new Countryman will probably be built in Leipzig, Germany, just like the next generation of its technical brother BMW X1, but do not expect it to be on the market before 2023.
