New on Amazon Prime Video: August’s Best Series and Movies

Amazon Prime Video

For the mere monthly amount of 2.99 euros you have unlimited access to Amazon Prime Video. The American group publishes new titles every month on its own streaming service. Which fresh films and series can you expect in August? This is new on Amazon Prime Video.

World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji (season 1)

This brand new series is about a days-long expedition race in the remote archipelago of Fiji in Oceania. No fewer than 66 teams from thirty countries will compete for eleven days. And that 24 hours a day! The trail is 671 kilometers long and passes through dense jungles, mountains and oceans. All 330 participants demand the utmost, both physically and mentally. A nice extra is that a Dutch team is also represented. Each team consists of five participants, namely four racers and an assistant crew member. Spread over ten episodes, this special expedition race is beautifully portrayed. The series can be seen from August 14.

When The Dikes Break (season 1)

Amazon Prime Video is also slowly adding Dutch productions. For example, August 14 Als Als Dijken Breken will appear on the platform. This six-part mini-series dates from 2016 and portrays the consequences of a large-scale flood. Six protagonists do their best to survive the disaster. For example, how do you escape from a flooded prison and how do you rebuild your life after a flood disaster? As De Dijken Breken, it accurately reflects how the Netherlands and Flanders are doing after a flood. This EO series reflects an issue that is of concern to many people, given that some five million Dutch people live below sea level. Aard Staartjes, Gijs Scholten, Frank Lammers and Bianca Krijgsman, among others, play a role.

True Story Avec (season 1)

As of August 3, the six-part comedy series True Story Avec can be seen exclusively at Amazon. Not much is known about this French production, although it is clear that the episodes include interviews in a studio. Well-known YouTubers meet celebrities, with remarkable true stories passing by. It is then up to YouTuber to ‘film’ the anecdotes as best (and humorously) as possible. This series includes French celebrities Jonathan Cohen, Antoine de Caunes and Julie Gayet.

Queen & Slim

In addition to series, there are also constantly fresh films on Amazon Prime Video. Due to the intriguing storyline, we choose Queen & Slim. Queen and Slim have a somewhat boring Tinder date. On the way back, a childish police officer stops them for a minor traffic offense. The officer is not open to discussion and unexpectedly draws his service weapon. As soon as the policeman Queen shoots in her thigh, the stops stop at Slim. The officer dies after a struggle, after which Queen and Slim flee. A deep bond of trust develops between the two main characters. A nice piece of information is that the bass player of the famous rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers (Flea) plays a role.

The Rolling Stones – Stones in Exile

Do you want to know how the legendary album Exile On Main Street from 1972 came about? This documentary only lasts an hour, but viewers will then know in which context hits such as Tumbling Dice and Happy were recorded. Due to tax issues, the Stones flee their homeland in 1971, after which girarist Keith Richards rents a villa in the south of France. Here a large part of the successful album is recorded under rather noisy conditions. Stones in Exile shows the history of Exile On Main Street through archive videos and interviews with band members. The documentary can be seen immediately on Amazon Prime Video.
