The all-new Siri with Apple Intelligence may be coming sooner than we expected. Here’s what you need to know!
New Siri with Apple Intelligence to be released earlier
According to the latest Power On-newsletter from Mark Gurman, the all-new Siri with Apple Intelligence is coming sooner than we previously thought. We won’t get the full experience right away, but we will get some of the new features.
New Siri Release Date
Gurman provided some additional details about the Apple Intelligence feature release timeline in his newsletter. One of those details is particularly interesting. In it, Gurman says that a number of new Siri features may be released in iOS 18.3, rather than iOS 18.4 as previously thought.
This means that the new Siri with Apple Intelligence could appear as early as January. That is the usual time for the third version of an iOS. The fourth version usually follows sometime in March.
iOS 18 Release Overview
Gurman also provided details on the release dates of the other iOS 18 versions. According to him, the timeline looks like this:
- iOS 18.1: will be completed this week and likely released mid-October.
- iOS 18.2: will be completed in early November and released in December.
- iOS 18.3: will be completed by the end of this year and released in January.
- iOS 18.4: will be completed in early February and released in March.
iOS 18.1 brings the first part of Apple Intelligence, including a slightly new version of Siri with Apple Intelligence (new UI, faster responses), but also Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up and Notification Summaries.
iOS 18.2 is expected to see Image Playground, Genmoji and ChatGPT integration. Finally, the all-new Siri with Apple Intelligence should be released early next year.
Why Siri Comes First with Apple Intelligence
Apple unveiled the new Siri with Apple Intelligence at WWDC last June. Siri should be able to better understand speech, integrate with other apps, understand context and see what’s currently on your screen. All of these features are likely to make Siri a true personal assistant.
Interestingly, Apple seems to want to accelerate the timeline for the release of the brand new Siri. Presumably, the company is aware that it launched the new iPhone 16 series with features that are largely unavailable yet. In the meantime, Apple is negotiating with the EU regarding issues surrounding the DMA (Digital Markets Act), to be able to release Apple Intelligence in Europe as well. Hopefully that will be completed before the end of the year.
