Apple has released a new software version that reveals which Apple product will be released soon! This is the device.
macOS 26.1 beta 3
Apple released another batch of software releases on Monday, October 13, 2025! These are test versions for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac. These updates are not intended for all users, instead developers can get started with the latest features. macOS 26.1 beta 3 has been released for the Mac, with which Apple mainly makes minor improvements to the software.
It now appears that the software version for the Mac contains codes that refer to a completely new Apple product. The codes mention the ‘Pro Display XDR Camera’ and ‘Pro Display XDR Desk View Camera’. With macOS 26.1 beta 3, Apple not only brings improvements to the Mac, but also reveals a new device. There will be a new generation of the Pro Display XDR, because the current version of the display does not yet have a camera.
Pro Display XDR 2
The Pro Display XDR 2 is Apple’s 32-inch Retina 6K display. The display has a high level of contrast and color, which Apple calls Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR). Apple released the device in 2019 and has not released a new generation since then. That will change this year, as macOS 26.1 beta 3 confirms that we can expect a new version of the Apple product soon.
Apple has not built in a camera in the current version of the Pro Display XDR. This will be an important improvement in the new generation of the Apple product, because macOS 26.1 reveals that it will have a camera. The Pro Display XDR 2 reportedly features a front camera with support for Centerpiece and Desk view. Center ensures that you are always shown in the middle of the screen, with Desk View you use your iPhone camera to show what is happening on your table.
More about the new Apple product
It is not yet known what other improvements will come to the Pro Display XDR 2. The current generation has a 6K screen with a refresh rate of 60Hz, one Thunderbolt 3 port and three USB-C ports. All these parts will probably receive an upgrade. The refresh rate is expected to be increased to 120Hz and the Thunderbolt 3 port will make way for multiple Thunderbolt 5 inputs.
You have to pay a considerable amount for the advanced display. You can currently get the Pro Display XDR for 5,499 euros from Apple. This makes it a display that is mainly intended for professional users. The new version of the device will probably take over this price.
