Unveiling in May
Maserati MC20
Maserati announces the name of its new sports car, to be presented in May. The model will be called MC20 and is more or less the spiritual successor to the spectacular MC12.
Maserati presents its long-awaited new sports car in May. The name already makes the brand known: MC20. The two letters represent Maserati Corse, the numbers for the year in which the car is presented. In the press release, the brand refers to the MC12 from 2004, the spectacular sports car based on the Ferrari Enzo. For the MC12, the figures represent the number of cylinders. The car was produced in a very limited edition of fifty pieces.
The MC20 will be less exclusive, but heralds a new era of the brand. Maserati is making a restart this year with the MC20 as a starting point. The sports car is presented with a fuel engine, but there will also be a fully electric version later. The MC20 is not the successor of the GranTurismo, which will be released next year and will also receive an electric drive.
The MC20 is also the starting signal for the return of Maserati to motorsport, just like the MC12. It is not yet known in what capacity the brand will return to the circuits. We will undoubtedly find out more about this in May.
