Subaru has quietly begun to reserve a spot in the showroom for the new Outback. At the end of April, the adventurous cross between a station wagon and an SUV will come to the Netherlands.
We had to be quite patient, because no less than two years after the new Outback was unveiled, it is coming this way. In April 2019, Subaru already pulled the canvas of the American Outback and this version intended for us differs from it only in detail. The Outback got a sharper nose than the generation now available here and larger plastic elements in the bumper and steel skid plates provide the necessary adventurous looks.
The always four-wheel drive Outback, which has a ground clearance of 22 cm, can best be described inside as a Legacy brother. We already know the interior from the station wagon that is no longer available here. In the center of the largely leather-covered dashboard you will find an 11.6-inch infotainment screen, on which Android Auto or Apple CarPlay can also be used. In terms of motorization, we are counting on a roughly 180 hp 2.5 four-cylinder boxer engine for the Dutch market, coupled to a CVT machine. A diesel engine will probably no longer be available, with the outgoing model the self-igniter has already been removed from the price list.
Subaru has already announced that the Outback will be available in three versions. It starts with the Comfort-baptized slip-on, followed by the Field, which in terms of appearance mainly distinguishes itself from more expensive versions by slightly less chrome accents. The top version is the Premium, which has the largest (11.6-inch) screen, leather upholstery and a sliding roof as standard. What the standard equipment of the new Outback is and what prices are attached to it, we will undoubtedly hear soon. As mentioned, you should find it in the Dutch showroom at the end of April.
