New Subaru WRX STI about 400 hp strong

Subaru is working behind the scenes on a new generation of WRX STI and if we can believe the coverage of Forbes, it promises to be a very violent sedan.

Although regular versions of the previous generation Impreza and its XV / Crosstrek brothers have not been built for several years, the WRX STI is still being produced. The sporty top version of the Impreza family, a sedan that has been technically separated from the Impreza, still has a 2.5-liter blown boxer engine as a power station. That machine delivered 300 hp and 407 Nm of torque in the last form in which the WRX STI was available in the Netherlands, figures that the new WRX STI can only laugh about.

That is, if we can believe the reporting of the normally well-informed Forbes. According to the medium, which is based on a source ‘close to Subaru’, the new WRX STI gets a 2.4-liter boxer engine that generates no less than 400 hp and 490 Nm. The machine seems to be a derivative of the 2.4 that Subaru delivers in the Ascent, a SUV that is not available in Europe. In the Ascent, that 2.4 256 hp is strong.

Subaru showed the Viziv Performance STI Concept in Tokyo in 2017. With that study model, the brand gave a nice impression of the new WRX STI. The new sports sedan should be on the market next year.
