Toyota is working on the third generation of the Aygo. We recently saw the concept car that looks ahead to this, now the production version is coming by.
The third generation of the Toyota Aygo is coming. This time, the compact Japanese is completely on its own, because Citroën and Peugeot do not hook up again. That not only means that the Aygo is even more idiosyncratic, but also that Toyota is grasping a different basis for its smallest. The new Aygo is enthroned on a shortened Yaris base.
We recently got a taste of the appearance of the new Aygo with the Aygo X Prologue. This shows that the Aygo has a nice eccentric appearance. If we compare the study model with these spy photos, it appears that – not surprisingly – Toyota is a little more subtle in the production Aygo. For example, the headlights here do not completely merge, although the C-shape of the concept is retained. The rear lights are also separate from each other, unlike on the Aygo X Prologue. Finally, the Aygo is also a bit less high on its legs than the concept, as it seems, the optional roll top roof is available again for those who like to enjoy the nice weather extra.
Toyota Aygo X Prologue
Toyota and hybrid are inextricably linked and the fact that the Aygo is on the same GA-B platform as the Yaris naturally feeds the suspicion that there will also be a partly electric version. For the time being, however, that is anything but certain. Toyota itself is talking about the Aygo just getting a combustion engine, but who knows, a (mild) hybrid variant is also on the schedule. The unveiling is likely to take place late this year.
