Fifth generation of pioneer

It seemed last week that Toyota will present the new Prius very soon. Now the high word is out: this week the new, fifth generation of the hybrid pioneer will indeed appear.
Last week, Toyota presented three detailed photos of a new car with ‘hybrid reborn’ on it, giving the impression that a new Prius is in the pipeline. That indeed turns out to be the case. The Japanese have now announced that next Wednesday, November 16, the canvas of the fifth generation of the Prius will go. A pretty important moment of course, because the Prius remains one of Toyota’s most iconic models ever.
The announcement is accompanied by a new teaser photo of the back of the new Toyota Prius. The Prius looks to have a significantly tighter rear than the current one, with rear light units that (as it ‘should’ nowadays) are connected to each other across the entire width of the butt. And profile the new Prius looks less different from the current Prius. Again, the hybrid gets a pretty elongated teardrop shape with a relatively short butt. Expect the nose of the new Prius to be similar to that of Toyota’s all-electric bZ models. The Prius seems to be a bit like the Toyota bZ3, the recently unveiled electric sedan for the Chinese market.
All in all, the new Prius will probably be a bit less eccentric to see than the current one. That can’t hurt, because Toyota nowadays has plenty of hybrid alternatives in its own range with a less pronounced appearance. In the Netherlands, in any case, they are preferred, because the current Prius could not exactly break pots here. The sales numbers of the Prius initially remained at a maximum of a few hundred per year and since 2020 the Prius no longer reaches 100 units on an annual basis.
