A new image of the upcoming top version of the Volkswagen Golf has surfaced on Instagram. The photo apparently shot at Volkswagen shows the buttocks of the new Golf R.
Of course, Volkswagen is going to market a large number of versions of the eighth generation Golf. Among other things, we are still waiting for the presentation of the Golf Variant, but fans of a solid game of steering are probably looking forward to the launch of the new Golf R. That top version has already appeared in almost production-ready form and thanks to Cochespias, the rear of the Golf R as it will soon be seen in the showrooms.
The photographed white copy betrays its R-genes with its rear bumper, among other things. In accordance with R tradition, it not only contains a diffuser, but also two sets of exhausts, each with two tailpipes. If you still do not know whether you have a Golf GTI or Golf R in front of you, then the R placed under the Volkswagen logo is there to dispel your doubts.
The new Golf R will probably get the same 2.0 TSI under the hood as the recently presented new Audi’s S3 Sportback and Limousine. That means: a further developed 2.0 four-cylinder that produces 310 hp and 400 Nm. This means that the new Golf R is slightly behind the R versions of the renewed Arteon introduced by Volkswagen. It contains a 2.0 that kicks it up to 320 hp and 420 Nm. Count on a 0-100 sprint of around 5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km / h. The previous Golf R had to do with 310 hp and 380 Nm, which is no punishment either. Switching is expected with a DSG automatic with seven gears.
Of course Volkswagen does not just spoon a powerful petrol engine in the Golf R. The car will get a more direct steering than its milder brothers and the braking will also be a lot more bite than with the non-R’s. More later this year!
