Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles adds a new chapter to the teaser campaign that precedes the introduction of the new Volkswagen Multivan. This time the Volkswagen commercial vehicle branch does not show a new design sketch. It does announce that the new Multivan will also be available as a plug-in hybrid.
The new Volkswagen Multivan will be Volkswagen’s first space giant to be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is giving away that the new Multivan will be available with a powertrain that goes by the name eHybrid. Volkswagen is keeping exact details about that plug-in hybrid hardware under its cap. It does say that the battery pack will have a place in the ground and that the electric range in electric mode is sufficient to cover “usual daily kilometers.” We already know the name of the plug-in hybrid version, eHybrid, from plug-in hybrid versions of cars such as the Golf, Arteon and recently the Tiguan.
Volkswagen Multivan
The new Multivan will be slightly different from what you are used to from Volkswagen. Traditionally, the Multivan is the passenger version of the Transporter, but that will soon be different. The new Multivan will be placed as a separate model next to the current Transporter. That company car can therefore still go along for a while. The new Multivan seems to be more ‘MPV’ than ever. Under the skin, we come across at least a variant of the well-known MQB platform. The new Volkswagen Multivan will be presented in its entirety in June.
