‘Next Maserati Quattroporte only as an EV’

For a new target group

‘Next Maserati Quattroporte only as an EV’

The next generation of the Maserati Quattroporte, which will be a size smaller than the current one, will only be available as an EV. That’s what Maserati’s says global product manager against the British coach.

In 2024, the next and already the seventh generation of the Maserati Quattroporte will be launched on the market. We already knew that it will be a bit smaller than the current one. What we didn’t know yet is that it will only come as an EV. That’s what Maserati-prominent Massimo Capaldi says to coach. The car has to compete with electric sedans from both the top segment and the segment of, for example, the Mercedes-Benz EQE and thus appeal to new Maserati customers. In terms of dimensions, the next Quattroporte is between the current and the Ghibli. The latter will disappear from the scene in 2024, so the Quattroporte will be the only sedan in the brand’s line-up from then on.

It shares its base with the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio. Although that car is available with both a petrol engine and electric motors, Maserati chooses to offer only the EV powertrain with the Quattroporte. In the GranTurismo and GranCabrio it is good for 761 hp, although this is expected to be less with the Quattroporte – due to its positioning in the model range.

Ambition for 2030

With the seventh Quattroporte, Maserati is taking the next step in its ambition to supply only electric cars by 2030. The current Grecale (on the same platform as the Stelvio) and MC20 will also come fully electric variants – as will the upcoming GranTurismo and GranCabrio. It now seems that the Quattroporte will be the first model of the brand that only comes on the market as an EV. We expect to see the first images sometime in 2023.
