Nio is entering into a partnership with an important Dutch party. Eco-Movement will provide up-to-date charging station information to the EV manufacturer, who will integrate it seamlessly into its navigation software.
Eco-Movement may not be very familiar to you as a company, but it is certainly not a newcomer in this field. The Dutch company calls itself a leader in the field of charging station data and supplies that data to – yes – Here, Uber, Honda, Tomtom and even Google and Tesla. Now Nio has been added to the list. The Chinese EV manufacturer states that by using Eco-Movement data it will become the first car manufacturer to make it possible to indicate a preference for certain charging station providers in the car. For example, users can indicate in the navigation system where they do or do not want to charge, which can be useful if, for example, they work with a charging card or discount scheme from a specific provider.
The update with the extensive charging station data is installed in the cars via an over-the-air update, so existing Nio drivers also benefit. As usual, Nio drivers can of course not only go to charging stations with an empty battery, but also to one of Nio’s own ‘Power Swap Stations’. The battery in question is not charged in the car, but simply exchanged for an already charged one.
