Hidden V-shape
In North America, Nissan carries a compact sedan called Versa. That car is now getting an extensive facelift.
The Versa is consistently in the top 3 cheapest new cars in the US. In the eyes of a European, the Versa most resembles a Nissan Micra sedan, but secretly it does not share any sheet metal part with that hatchback built in Europe. The thought is not surprising, however, because the similarity is striking, especially around the side windows and in the interior.
The difference between Micra and Versa has just become a bit bigger, because the Versa launched in 2019 gets a new nose. The headlights may keep their shape, but the front bumper is going to be overhauled. Almost the entire front of the facelift Versa consists of a grille. The V-shape of that grille, a typical feature of a modern Nissan front, is executed in a more abstract way than before. To the left and right of the black center we find chrome-plated horizontal elements that still somewhat reflect it.
In addition to the appearance, Nissan is also tinkering with the equipment of the Versa, which now has Android Auto and Apple Carplay as standard. The safety equipment has also been improved somewhat. Under the hood hums in all cases a 122 hp, 1.6-liter four-cylinder type ‘never change an OK team’. You can certainly handle that very well if a rental car is selected in the ‘economy’ class on your next vacation to America.
