Nissan X-Trail: 10 mille more expensive than predecessor due to e-Power

The previous generation Nissan X-Trail was available at dealers from just under €38,000. For that money you got the X-Trail with 160 hp 1.3 petrol engine. The new X-Trail costs more than €10,000 more. That is a significant price increase, but one that is easy to explain.

The new Nissan X-Trail always has an e-Power drivetrain, hardware that is a lot more complex than a conventional combustion engine-plus transmission. With e-power, an electric motor drives the front wheels. This electrical unit receives power from a small battery pack that is constantly fed by an innovative petrol engine. That’s a 1.5 with variable compression. The Nissan X-Trail with e-Power heart drives like a regular electric car. You therefore benefit from direct, linear acceleration and can therefore also accelerate and decelerate the SUV with e-Pedal Step with one pedal.

The starting price of the Nissan X-Trail is €48,390. For that amount you get the version with 204 hp and 330 Nm strong electric motor that drives the front wheels. With this powertrain, the Nissan X-Trail can reach 100 km/h in 8 seconds and has a top speed of 170 km/h. The X-Trail is available as Acenta for this amount, but it is also available as N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna Plus. Do you want more power? Then go for the Nissan X-Trail e-4orce 4wd. That four-wheel drive variant has a system power of 213 hp and costs as Acenta at least €52,390. The X-Trail with this powertrain is also available as N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna Plus. In all cases, these are versions with five seats.

But… Nissan also supplies the new X-Trail as a seven-seater. If you go for a Nissan X-Trail with seven seats, then there is not much to choose from in terms of engines. Only the e-4orce 4wd powertrain is available in combination with a seven-seat configuration. As an Acenta, it costs at least €53,390. The new Nissan X-Trail can be ordered immediately. The first copies are expected in the Netherlands at the beginning of November.

Standard equipment on the Nissan X-Trail includes Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Active Blind Spot Assist, extended cruise control, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, automatic lighting, automatic wipers and 18-inch alloy. Full LED headlights, LED taillights, two-zone climate control, an auto-dimming interior mirror and an 8-inch multimedia screen are also standard.

The N-Connecta adds a 360-degree camera, roof rails, artificial leather on the dashboard and door panels, mood lighting and a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation. In addition, the Tekna features ProPilot Assist, ProPilot Park, matrix LED headlights, 19-inch alloy, semi-leatherette trim, silver exterior trim, automatic tailgate, three-zone climate control, induction charger, head-up display and heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Top version Tekna Plus goes there in turn with 20-inch light metal, LED fog lamps, a glass panoramic roof, leather upholstery and front seats with massage function.
