Apple has added a new button to the Alarm Clock on your iPhone with iOS 26.1. Aren’t you happy with that? We’ll show you how to remove it!
New button in the Alarm Clock
If you have installed iOS 26.1, you may have already noticed that the Alarm clock in the Clock app on your iPhone has a new button. This button replaces the button with which you always turned off the Alarm Clock. The new button basically has the same function, just works in a different way.
You can tap it like you always did, but that no longer has any effect. The new button is a slider. So to turn the Alarm off completely, you have to swipe this button to the right. This is in contrast to the snooze button, which still works as you are used to.
This is how you remove it
The idea behind the new button is of course that this way you are less likely to accidentally turn off the alarm completely when you actually want to tap the snooze button. But maybe you are so used to the old way that you don’t want it any other way. In that case, you will be happy that you can remove the new button very easily. This is how you do it:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Accessibility’;
- Under ‘Physical and Motor’, tap ‘Touch’;
- Scroll down;
- Turn on ‘Prefer one touch’.

The Alarm Clock now works as it always did: with one snooze button and one button to stop the Alarm Clock. You can tap both buttons as before. If you want it differently, disable the option in the same way.
