As a user of the Xbox app on Windows, you sometimes run into the problem that you no longer receive notifications. That is of course not how it should be. If you want to solve that problem, you have some solutions at your disposal. We’ll go through them with you.
There could be several issues that are preventing you from receiving notifications from the Xbox app. Before we analyze the app, we therefore look at peripheral issues that can cause obstacles.
It is possible that you have the concentration aid of Windows turned on. Then you will no longer receive a notification from any app. Open the Settingsgo to System and press Concentration aid†Select the Off option and check if you are now getting notifications again.
Still not? Then open the Xbox app, select your account and press Settings†Select the option here Notifications and then check if the app sends notifications at all.
If you have an old version of the app, check immediately if there are any updates available. If so, the problem may just resolve itself if the two solutions above don’t work. But we are not there yet; there are more options.
Let Xbox app send notifications
In addition, check if Windows is able to send notifications in general. open it Action Center and press Manage notifications†Look below Receive notifications from apps and other senders on the slider when there is Out state. If the controller is blue, it is on.
Running the Xbox app in the background can also help.
- Open Settings (Windows key + i)
- Go to Privacy and press Background apps
- Find the Xbox app now
- Move the slider to the left (if it isn’t already)
If there are still issues then we will move on to fix the app. You then proceed as follows.
- Open the Settings and go to apps
- Press Apps & Features
- Select Xbox and press Advanced options
- Scroll down and press the button To recover (you will then keep your data)
- If this doesn’t help, press Reset (you will not retain any data)
Finally, disabling the Xbox Game Bar may help.
- Open the Settings and go to gaming
- On this page you will find one controller; put it on Outâ€
After all these options, the Xbox app should work as normal. If not, please contact Microsoft Customer Service.
