Stretching

Are you too cramped in the back of a BMW X1 or iX1? Maybe you should consider bringing a copy here from China via a detour. The BMW X1 and the electric iX1 were presented there in an extended form.
Earlier today we were able to show you the extended Mercedes-Benz GLC, a longer variant of the GLC developed for the Chinese market, complete with a third row of seats and therefore space for seven people. In China, if you can afford it, people prefer to sit in the back and let the traffic drive you. Now BMW has presented a version of the X1 and iX1 in which it can be just that little bit more pleasant.
The BMW X1 presented last year and its electric iX1 equivalent are more than 5 centimeters longer than the previous X1 and have a wheelbase that is 2 centimeters longer than the model that was replaced. The Chinese extended BMW X1 and iX1 are of course bigger again. The BMW X1 L is 4.62 meters long and is therefore 12 centimeters longer than the model available here. It even crawls very close to the 4.71 meter long X3. The wheelbase of the BMW X1 L is 2.8 meters and is 11 centimeters larger than that of the X1s that you can buy in Europe. The extra centimeters fully benefit the passengers in the back. The seat is 3.7 centimeters longer than in a regular X1 and the backrest has been extended by 2.7 centimeters.
The extended BMW X1 comes to the Chinese market as a sDrive20Li with a 156 hp three-cylinder turbo engine and as a sDRive25Li with a 204 hp four-cylinder engine. The X1 is available in China as sDrive20Li from €38,280.
