The Magic Eraser feature of the Pixel 6 series can now be used on older Pixel phones with a detour. It’s a feature that wipes out distracting objects in your photos, and Google suggested them as a Pixel 6 feature. We explain how it uses on other Pixels.
Magic Eraser on older Pixels
One of the eight major camera improvements for the Pixel 6 series is the Magic Eraser or the ‘magic eraser’. In Google Photos you can then mark which disturbing objects or people may disappear from the background of the photo. Then that happens like snow in the sun.
The arrival of this feature for the Pixel 6 had already been leaked before Google showed it at its announcement event. But now there is also a way to already activate the function on older Pixel phones. That’s what users of the GoogleNews group discovered on Telegram.
That is how it works
You only need a Pixel phone that works with Android 12 and you also need to sideload version 5.64 of Google Photos. Install the apk file as an update to Google Photos. Then open a photo and choose To process. Then in the photo editor go to Tools and then choose Magic Earaser. You can then simply circle the objects you want to make disappear. Finally, press Save.
