Official: Polestar 2 cheaper thanks to new versions

Over a month ago, Techzle was able to exclusively report that the Polestar 2 would eventually be available in new versions. Now Polestar itself has released information and prices for the three new versions. The Polestar 2, now only available with all-wheel drive, will also get two front-wheel drive variants, one of which even comes with a smaller battery pack.

The delivery range of the Polestar 2 has been quite limited to date, to say the least. It was only available as a 408 hp and 600 Nm four-wheel drive, squeezing about 470 electric kilometers from its 78 kWh battery pack. The € 59,800 variant is now joined by two cheaper versions with front-wheel drive. All new versions have a greater range than the already known variant.

78 kWh and front-wheel drive

The first new version of the Polestar 2 has the same 78 kWh battery pack as the well-known 408 hp Long Range Dual Motor with four-wheel drive. The difference, however, puts him in the electric motors. The Long Range Single Motor has, as its name implies, one source of electrical power. It is an electric motor of 231 hp and 330 Nm that drives the front wheels. It has a provisional estimated WLTP range of 515 to 540 kilometers. This Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor has a starting price of € 49,900.

64 kWh and front-wheel drive

The second new version is the Standard Range Single Motor. It also has front-wheel drive, although the electric motor in this € 45,900 variant is 224 hp and 330 Nm strong. The electric motor draws its zest for life from a smaller battery pack of 64 kWh. The range has been provisionally set at 420 to 440 kilometers. According to our previously obtained information, he could sprint to 100 km / h in 7.4 counts.

Polestar is now also putting a regular version of that Long Range Dual Motor on the price list, which is a lot more accessible with a starting price of € 53,900. The new versions of the Polestar 2 are available to order immediately.
