All iPhone 16 models will have a larger battery this year, but in one version the battery will actually be smaller. With this iPhone you will soon have to make do with a smaller battery.
iPhone 16 gets bigger battery
Apple will release the iPhone 16 this year, which will reportedly have a much larger battery than we saw with the iPhone 15. That is of course good news, because you have to charge the phone less often and one battery lasts longer. The battery life of the iPhone 15 was disappointing, as it was unchanged compared to the iPhone 14.

However, Apple recently indicated that the battery of the iPhone 15 lasts longer than the battery in previous devices. While the battery condition of the iPhone 14 and lower drops to 80 percent after 500 charging cycles, with the iPhone 15 this only occurs after 1,000 charging cycles. So the battery lasts longer, because it will need to be replaced later. With the iPhone 16 we do see a real improvement in battery life, except for one model. The iPhone 16 Plus will have a much smaller battery.
This model has a smaller battery
We can finally expect an improved battery with the iPhone 16. The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a larger battery. Apple has made a striking choice with the iPhone 16 Plus, because that device has a smaller battery. The iPhone Plus models are known for their longer battery life, but that may change with the iPhone 16. This is the expected battery capacity:

It is not clear why the battery of the iPhone 16 Plus is becoming a lot smaller. Apple may equalize the battery life of the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus. This means a major improvement, especially for the regular iPhone. Now the iPhone 15 lasts twenty hours on one battery, while the Plus offers up to 26 hours. The iPhone 15 Pro Max already had a battery life of 29 hours and that will be even longer with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
New battery not bad news
The fact that the iPhone 16 Plus will have a smaller battery does not necessarily mean bad news. You probably don’t have to charge the iPhone 16 Plus more often because of the new battery. This has to do with the new processor, which requires less energy to perform demanding tasks. As a result, the battery life of the device does not deteriorate.

In any case, the new processor and the larger battery will probably ensure that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro (Max) will last much longer. You then only have to charge the phone once every two days, as is already the case with the iPhone 15 Plus. Of course, we will only know this definitively after the release of the new iPhones.
