OnePus is rolling out the Android 12 update with the refreshed OxygenOS 12 shell to its two flagships. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will receive a renewed Shelf, improvements for the dark mode and a new Work-Life Balance function.
OnePlus 9 (Pro) and Android 12
In October, OnePlus started beta of its OxygenOS 12 shell for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. An important update, not only because of the improvements of Android 12, but also because the software is integrated for the first time with CorlorOS, the software shell of OPPO. The design remains recognizable for OnePlus users.
Now OnePlus announces that the stable update to Android 12 is ready for its flagships. In the changelog we read that the design has been improved and that from now on there are three shades of the dark mode that users can choose from.
The Shelf has also been given a lick of paint and there are more styling tweaks that allow you to change the look. OnePlus also comes with a smart search function, handy info card for connected Bluetooth headsets and a card with which you can see health data from the OnePlus Watch.

Work-Life Balance and Canvas
New is the Work-Life Balance function that helps you to change how your phone works with a Work and a Life mode. You then choose which apps and notifications are visible and also the settings that are active for each mode. This feature was previously available exclusively in India.
In the gallery of OnePlus you can switch between layouts with a gesture and the app now also recognizes the images with the best quality. And then there’s the canvas effect of the always on screen, i.e. contours of a photo of your choice that are visible on a black background. You can now set multiple styles for Canvas. In addition to the improvements that OnePlus is implementing itself, the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro can also benefit from novelties in Android 12. You will discover an overview here.
Do you already have the update?
OnePlus makes further clear on his forum that the update will be rolled out in phases and it is therefore possible that Android 12 will not knock on your phone yet. In that case, you can expect the update in the coming days.
This Android 12 update is the last major update before OPPO and OnePlus present their new software shell that combines features of OxygenOS and ColorOS. We expect that major update in the spring of 2022. Have you already received the Android 12 update? Let us know and tell us about your experience in the comments at the bottom of this article.
