Opel and motorsport have gone hand in hand for decades. A rally version appeared of almost every Corsa. The current Corsa has already been presented as an e-Rally, but will now also be joined by this rally cannon that can participate in the Rally4 racing series.
Opel competed in the Rally4 championship until 2018. That happened then with the Adam R2. This brand-new Corsa Rally4 takes over the sporting baton and drives along during the 2021 season. Quite a heavy task rests on the shoulders of the pumped-up Corsa, as the Adam achieved 530 podium finishes and 32 titles in four seasons.
The Rally4 class replaces the old R2 classification. The four-cylinder will therefore be overhauled, because unlike that engine from the Adam, this Corsa will get a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine. This block is based on the regular 1.2’s from Opel, but now gets a lot more power. 208 hp 3n 290 Nm of torque to be precise. Furthermore, everything is of course also changed from head to toe on the Corsa: from a new five-speed gearbox to Öhlins shock absorbers.
The Corsa Rally4 can be seen in action from 1 December this year. Months of preparation in the South of France precede this.
