Find files very easily in Word and Excel; pin them and you’ll always find them!
Open files in Word and Excel
If you use certain files in Word or Excel more often, you can pin them in these Office programs. Very useful, especially if the program is already open. It saves a few clicks with the mouse.
Pin to File menu
Pin documents like this:
- Open Word or Excel.
- Click on the tab File.
- Find the file to pin in the list under ‘Recent’.
- Move the mouse pointer over the document.
- Click the pin icon to the right of the file name.
- Click next to ‘Recent’ on Pinned.
Open document quickly
Open a pinned file like this if Word or Excel isn’t already open:
- Launch Word or Excel.
- Click on the tab below the search bar Pinned.
- Click on the document you want to open.
Open a pinned file like this if you already have another document open in Word or Excel:
- Click on the tab File.
- Click on the tab below the search bar Pinned.
- Click on the document you want to open.
Unpin pinned files
You can remove files that you no longer use often from the list of pinned documents:
- Launch Word or Excel.
- Click on the tab File if you already had a document open. Otherwise, skip this step.
- click on Pinned.
- Hover over the document you want to remove from the list.
- To the right of the file name, click the pushpin icon with the line through it.
