Do you also suffer from overheating with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max)? Then there is good news, because Apple finally has a solution to the problem!
Heat problem with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max)
Since last week, there have been many complaints about overheating with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Several causes were cited for the problem, including the phone’s new casing. Apple has opted for titanium for the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) for the first time, instead of a stainless steel casing. That could possibly cause heat problems with the iPhone.

Apple itself has now acknowledged that the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are experiencing overheating. The company emphasizes that the heat problem is not caused by the new titanium housing. That’s good news, because it means it’s a problem with the software. Now it looks like the heat problem is coming to an end as Apple has unveiled the solution.
This is how Apple solves the heat problem
In a statement, Apple said it is common for a new iPhone to become warmer than normal during the first few days. That’s because iOS searches all photos, searches, and more in the background. This causes your new iPhone to perform heavy tasks in the background, leading to a warmer phone. Apple now admits that this causes overheating in the iPhone 15.
According to the company, there is a bug in iOS 17 that causes the iPhone 15 (Plus) and the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) to become much too warm. It is striking that Apple also mentions the regular iPhone 15, because the complaints are mainly about this year’s Pro models. Now that it is clear that this is a problem in iOS 17, Apple is working on an update to resolve overheating on the iPhone 15.
The higher temperatures on the iPhone 15 mainly occur when using a number of third-party apps. Due to the bug, these apps overload the iPhone 15’s CPU, resulting in overheating. According to Apple, this certainly concerns apps such as Uber and Instagram. Apple is now working with developers from these companies to fix the issues in an update.
No danger of overheating with iPhone 15
It is not yet known when this update will be released, but it probably won’t be long. Apple previously released iOS 17.0.1 and iOS 17.0.2. This resolved a bug that caused problems when switching from an old iPhone to a new one. Apple will probably fix overheating on the iPhone 15 in iOS 17.0.3, which will hopefully be released this week.
