In addition to the OnePlus 10T, OnePlus has also officially announced its latest software shell, OxygenOS 13. This software is based on Android 13, which is the Android version that Google has yet to announce. These OnePlus phones can expect the latest software shell soon.

Android 13 and smartphone manufacturers

Google will probably announce the stable version of Android 13 in September. This new Android version comes with all kinds of new features and improvements. For example, there is a system to add tiles yourself to the Quick settings, Material You icons and an important privacy setting for WiFi. In addition to the improvements from Google, each manufacturer will add a series of improvements of its own to its software shell. For example, Samsung is extensively testing its variant and OnePlus has done the same. This manufacturer has even reached the point where it officially announces OxygenOS 13 today.

OxygenOS 13 is the second major update that the brand is developing together with partner OPPO. To refresh the look and feel of OxygenOS, OnePlus looked at the amorphous (aka “shapeless” or “flowing”) properties of water; hence the term ‘aqua’. Like water, the design is soothing, natural and versatile. The second half of the word, ‘morphic’, refers to the high-tech level of design. This is reflected in the minimalistic icons, animations and a variety of shapes and textures in OxygenOS 13.

Some novelties in OxygenOS 13:

  • Smart design: The colors of the OxygenOS 13 design are cleverly adapted to the time of day you use your device. This means that the OS is brighter in the morning and takes on a darker, calmer look after sunset.
  • AI System Booster: OxygenOS 13 uses AI System Booster, which further improves the smooth and stable performance of the system. Thanks to smart memory management systems, AI System Booster allows you to run more applications simultaneously in the background, so you can quickly switch from one to the other. This allows the system to provide a faster, smoother user experience without interruptions.
  • Always On Display (AOD): OxygenOS 13 includes a wider selection of AODs that give you more customization options, so you can decide for yourself what information you want easily accessible. Whether you’re listening to music or creating masterpieces on Canvas or Bitmoji, OxygenOS 13’s AODs allow you to access information with ease wherever you are
  • Smart Launcher: Smart Launcher gives you faster access to apps from folders. This is done by making folders and their contents bigger on your home screen. Apps in a folder can be tapped and opened without opening the folder itself, for a faster and effortless user experience. Smart Launcher also allows you to quickly and easily add widgets for your favorite apps to use their features from your home screen.
  • Sidebar Toolbox: Sidebar Toolbox makes it easier to do everything on your smartphone with one hand. This feature gives you easy access to all apps.
  • Spatial Audio & Dolby Atmos: OxygenOS 13 supports Spatial Audio and with that you can adjust the direction of the sound in different applications. In addition, OxygenOS 13 supports Dolby Atmos, which provides a wider sound field and more accurate spatial placement of sound.
  • Private Safe 2.0: In OxygenOS 13 is an improved version of the Private Safe its debut. It secures data, documents and media files in a virtual vault so that they cannot be accessed by other applications.
