Almost everything electrified

Peugeot puts a new mild hybrid powertrain on the menu for the 3008 and 5008. This 48V system should reduce consumption by up to 15 percent and works together with an improved 1.2 petrol engine. Later, more Peugeots will benefit from it.
The Peugeots 3008 and 5008 are slowly starting to lag behind the rest at Peugeot. Redemption is near, but it will not come before the 3008 and 5008 are introduced to mild hybrid technology. Peugeot is preparing a new version of the well-known 1.2 PureTech petrol engine. It now delivers 136 hp instead of 130 hp, the torque remains the same at 230 Nm.
However, we do not find the biggest news in the engine, but behind it. The three-cylinder is in fact linked to a six-speed automatic transmission with double clutch, in which a 28 hp and 55 Nm strong electric motor is integrated. It switches on when little power is required to reduce fuel consumption. According to Peugeot, it can save up to 15 percent consumption and both the Hybrid-baptized 3008 and 5008 can drive electrically more than 50 percent of the time in city traffic.
The Peugeot 3008 Hybrid and Peugeot 5008 Hybrid take the place of the PureTech 130 versions with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Then almost the entire 3008 and 5008 range will be electrified. There will not be a fully electric version, but that will change (this year) with the next generation. Incidentally, Peugeot Netherlands reports that this powertrain, not entirely surprising, will be available in more models. The 208, the 2008, the 308 and the 408 also get it and logically the PureTech 130 EAT8 also clears the field.
