“Everything electrified”

Peugeot is proud to announce that from 2023 all models with one or more electrified powertrains will be available. We will also find some news among the range by then: (mild) hybrid versions of the Peugeots 3008 and 5008.
But, we hear you think, the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 are already available as hybrids, right? That’s right, but the Hybrid and Hybrid4 are plug-in hybrids. In the first half of 2023, the hybrid range for these models will be expanded at the bottom with a version without a charging cable. They get a new, 136 hp Puretech petrol engine on board. It is coupled to a dual-clutch automatic transmission, also new. The transmission contains an electric motor, which is supplied with power via a 48V system and a small battery.
According to Peugeot, the electric support delivers up to 15 percent fuel savings. The system smacks of mild-hybrid and you may be familiar with it, because group mate Alfa Romeo Tonale is electrified in a similar way. According to our expert Cornelis Kit, however, the title ‘hybrid’ is technically justified, because the cars can drive without a running combustion engine. That is not possible for too long: Peugeot keeps it at a maximum of one kilometer at low speed, so in practice count on a few hundred meters at most.
By the way, do not think that Peugeot uses the Tonale powertrain one on one. Technically, such an Alfa has nothing to do with the products of the former PSA. Moreover, Peugeot calls itself the first Stellantis brand that may carry this specific powertrain, although many cars will undoubtedly follow with this power source under the hood. We don’t have the exact specifications of the new 3008 and 5008 versions yet, they will undoubtedly follow later.
Everything electrified
Peugeot is taking the opportunity to report that from the first half of 2023, all models of the brand will be available with at least partially electric powertrains, at least in Europe. In our opinion, this has been the case in the Netherlands for a while, because Peugeot already carries at least one hybrid variant of each model. However, Peugeot is looking beyond just the cars and notes that a fully electric version of the Streetzone scooter is also being proposed in Paris.
Among the cars, the new version of the all-electric 208, which with a more fuel-efficient powertrain and a slightly larger battery, gets a lot further on one charge, is an important part of the all-electric range. The fully electric versions of the Peugeot 308 and 308 SW will undoubtedly make a significant contribution in the EV area.
