The first thing that strikes you about the new Peugeot 308 is that the compact middle class looks different. This is mainly due to the technical improvements that characterize this third generation.

The third generation Peugeot 308 debuts online! The middle-class hatchbak will be at the dealers in the autumn. The new proportions will immediately be noticed there. Length has been increased by 11 cm, with a longer wheelbase for more space in the second row. By lowering the roof and drawing the nose differently, the hood appears longer. The new look, like other changes that has been made, is all about improving technology – in this case aerodynamics, in order to achieve lower energy consumption.

Fuel and plug-in hybrid

In keeping with the spirit of Peugeot’s ‘Power of Choice’, the powertrains offer something to choose from from the showroom introduction. To be more precise: two 1.2 liter petrol engines (110 or 130 hp), the 1.5 BlueHDi 130 diesel engine and two front-wheel drive plug hybrids. The Hybrid 180 combines the 81 kW electric motor with a 150 hp PureTech petrol engine, the Hybrid 225 with a 180 hp model. The full range for both (in the WLTP test) is (almost) 60 km. The fuel-driven engines are available with an eight-speed EAT automatic transmission, the hybrids come with e-EAT8 as standard.

Inside the cabin you will also find the very latest in technology. Peugeot has increased the ergonomics and quality of the i-Cockpit; and the new steering wheel equipped with sensors for multimedia and driver assistance systems. If desired, the physical front panel of the air conditioner can be replaced with configurable virtual buttons. What remains physically is then on the center console. There you can, for example, charge the phone wirelessly. From now on, two phones can connect via Bluetooth at the same time and the mirroring function now also works wirelessly. The TomTom navigation (part of Peugeot i-Connect Advanced) is updated ‘over the air’.

The Drive Assist 2.0 package will be available from the end of 2021. This includes the new functions semi-automatic lane change, speed adjustment in bends and speed recommendation based on road signs. In addition to technology, Peugeot has also examined the quality of materials. Among other things, ergonomic chairs with the AGR quality mark are the concrete result.
