Fresh appearance
The Peugeot 406 Coupé was, of course, a straight one eye-catcher, but the regular 406 was also quite nice. Nowadays they don’t cost much more and in this case it is also one that still looks pretty fresh. Can you snatch it away from the nose of the export farmer?
The Peugeot 405 was praised in its time for its timeless lines and Peugeot decided not to give its successor a radically different shape. That that was quite a good move, was evident from the popularity of the French middle class. The 406 is now clearly a car from other times, yet it is (certainly compared to some competitors from then) still quite a fresh appearance. It can of course be a bit more modern, because this copy is from before the facelift.
On the other hand, the color scheme is quite timeless. That starts with the silver gray paint and in the interior you will find black leather. The latter in particular saves a sip on a drink, because in a 406 from that time you can also just find fabric upholstery that (whether or not due to a special pattern on it) clearly dates from times long gone. The ‘wooden’ accents provide a bit of elegance and the contrasting light gray at the bottom of the dashboard and on the door trim also looks good. Electrically operated front and rear windows are present, as are electrically adjustable side mirrors and a sliding/tilting roof. What is a pity is that this 406 does not yet have the climate control with display that appeared later in the 406 and it even has to do without air conditioning. But hey, you can leave something to be desired.
It is not an expensive car, with an asking price of €2,100. Certainly not if you consider that the 406 has not driven a ton and a half and it has MOT until November next year. It also seems to look very nice optically. The Peugeot 406 dates back to the time before Peugeot lost its way in terms of quality, so you don’t have to worry about disastrous technical defects. However, it remains a car that is almost 23 years old, so stay alert to any alarm signals. For example, in the owner history we see that the previous owner said goodbye to it after just one month. Someone also drove it from 2001 to 2019, which speaks more in his favor. With a bit of luck you can have a very nice mileage eater for not too much money. Enthusiastic?
