Peugeot: ‘Never again a used car’

Imagine that your new car not only lasts much longer, but also remains current throughout its existence. According to Peugeot, that is the future.

Peugeot will bring five new electric models to market within the next two years, including the first two Stellantis cars to be on a variant of the new EV-only modular STLA platform family: the e-3008 and e-5008. Peugeot foresees a future in which its cars will last much longer thanks to this new modular basis.

According to Peugeot, current models with combustion engines assume a life cycle of about 15 years. In the future, electric cars of the brand should last 20 to 25 years. The STLA platform family is said to have been developed to last 25 years. But don’t those models become obsolete very quickly? Peugeot thinks not.

Peugeot wants future models, among other things, through updates and through refurbishing keep up to date. Replacing certain parts built from recycled materials should extend the life of a car. Peugeot also envisions a future in which you can easily replace parts of the interior that have worn out over the years. In addition, due to software updates, cars must remain current throughout their lives. “Imagine never having a used car again. Instead, you always have a fresh car that meets your needs and that you can update or improve according to your wishes,” says Matthias Hossann, Peugeot Design Director.
