Philips Hue presents many new products during the IFA in Berlin, such as the Hue Bridge Pro, the cheaper Philips Hue Essential series for loafers, the new Hue Secure video doorbell and 7 beautiful new LED strips, including the Omniglow Strip Light. You can also ‘operate’ with Sonos speakers via Voice Control Hue lamps.
Philips Hue is a household name for smart lighting and they are the market leader in this area for nothing. Personally, I can enjoy many products, although they are not cheap. I was present myself during the Philips Hue press event at the consumer electronics fair IFA and was pleasantly surprised with the new products and the new possibilities. Under the campaign name ‘Your house in a new light’, Signify showed a major update of the Philips Hue portfolio. There are many eye-catchers including the Hue Bridge Pro, the cheaper entry series Philips Hue Essential, the new Hue Secure video doorbell and 7 beautiful new LED strips, including the Omniglow Strip Light. You can also operate your Hue lamps with a number of Sonos speakers through voice commands. Below is already a lot of information and in the coming months you will read the reviews of a number of new products on Pcactive.nl and of course in the PC-Active magazine.
Philips Hue Bridge Pro
The Philips Hue Bridge Pro is a compact completely black hub that builds on the familiar Philips Hue Bridge, but with improved performance, capacity and speed. With support for no less than 150 lamps and 50 accessories, the Bridge Pro offers enough space for even the most extensive smart homes – all from one central hub. Thanks to this new standard in smart lighting, the installation becomes easier, the reaction speed higher and the system is better prepared for the future.
The Hue Bridge Pro is built with a processor that is five times more powerful and has a memory that is fifteen times larger than that of the current Philips Hue Bridge. This not only ensures faster response times in the entire system, but also makes it possible to store more than 500 personalized light scenes. It is powered by the new Hue Chip Pro and makes advanced possibilities possible such as Hue Motion Aware-an advanced technology with which Hue lamps can function as motion sensors, so that the lights are switched on when movement is detected.
Upgrading to the new bridge is simple: you can transfer all the settings of a current Philips Hue Bridge with just a few clicks. The support for combining multiple bridges in one Bridge Pro comes before the end of the year.

Improved security with the new Hue Secure video doorbell
With Hue Secure, Philips Hue combines smart lighting with extra safety and peace of mind for your home. The addition of the brand new Secure video doorbell offers users an important upgrade of the Philips Hue security system with which you can monitor the front door. Thanks to a wide -angle lens and two -way speech you can immediately see who is at your door and communicating, wherever you are. With movement or a visitor you will immediately receive push reports, and the lighting can be switched on automatically to better illuminate the environment.
Also important: A doorbell at your front door at home works on weakness (about 8 volts). You cannot connect it directly to the mains (230 volts) and for that you have to place a call traffic in the meter cupboard. (Or you opt for a wireless video doorbell with batteries, but I don’t recommend that: because when are those batteries empty?). A number of video doorbells only go up to 12 volts and then it turns out that you still have to buy a Beltrafo … The Philips Hue video doorbell works on 12-24 volts, a plus point
In addition to the doorbell, Philips Hue also introduces a Hue Smart Chime. This device ensures clear sound warnings within the house as soon as someone rings, so that you always stay informed, regardless of where you are.
In addition, Philips Hue will soon also release a new 2K-grade camera and new software updates that further improve the Hue Secure security options.
Sonos Voice Control and Philips Hue: Sound, Speech and Light work together
Philips Hue further expands the entertainment experience with a new integration: Sonos Voice Control. This speech control is now being expanded with the operation of Philips Hue lighting. Users can easily turn on and off, dimming, make it brighter and even activate scenes through their voice. Through the combination of sound, speech and light you can effortlessly create a unique atmosphere in the house.
Rise of AI-controlled experiences at Hue
The AI possibilities of Hue continue to develop: since the launch of the generative AI assistant at the beginning of 2025, this function has now been available in most markets. Thanks to contextual insight, the assistant can propose or create light scenes that fit in with the mood, style or occasion of the user, making the lighting now feel more responsibly and more personal than ever.
Soon support for making automation will also be rolled out via the AI assistant, so that users can easily set smart routines. In addition, the HUE SYNC PC app introduces a new AI-controlled synchronization mode, which automatically recognizes the most relevant events on the screen and translates it into an even more dynamic and compelling entertainment experience.
