For a long time it remained silent around Piëch Automotive, the brand of the son of former Volkswagen CEO Ferdinand Piëch. Until now. The brand, still brand new, shows its first production-ready car: the Piëch GT.

Rewind to 2017, the year in which we first learned about Piëch Automotive. Piëch Automotive is a brand that was founded by Toni Piëch, son of Ferdinand Piëch, who you know as a former VW CEO with magalomanic ambitions that have led to the Phaeton and Bugatti Veyron, among other things. About 2.5 years ago, Piëch Automotive showed an early version of its first car in the form of the Mark Zero. The Mark Zero is now ready for production and will not only get a modified appearance, but also a new name: GT.

Just like the Mark Zero, the Piëch GT is an electric coupé with an exterior that has been poured over with a retro sauce. The car has three 204 hp electric motors that together account for a system power of 611 hp. The 1,800 kg GT sprints to a speed of 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and must be able to reach a speed of 200 km/h in less than 9 seconds. The 4.43 meter long two-seater, which is about the same size as a Jaguar F-Type, has a 75 kWh battery that, according to Piëch, is good for a WLTP range of 500 kilometers. Part of the batteries is located in the center tunnel, another part is placed on the rear axle. According to Piëch, this placement is necessary to achieve a low seat. An empty battery pack can be filled with electricity to 80 percent of its capacity in just 8 minutes. The company even says it will come up with a charging system that will reduce that charging time to less than 5 minutes. That’s pretty smooth.

The Piëch GT should already be available in 2024. Piëch Automotive says it will be able to build 1,200 units in that year. It does not stop at the Piëch GT, the brand indicates that it will also come with an electric SUV and an electric sports sedan, cars that will be called Piëch SUV and Piëch Sportlimousine successively. Talk about ambitions.
