Porsche parks a new ruler on the throne of the 718 range. The brand introduces the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, the superlative of the former top version of the 718 Cayman and the first 718 with RS badge.

Porsche is not yet sharing detailed technical specifications of the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS, but is already sharing a series of photos showing the car in action on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, among others. That is not without reason. Development driver Jörg Bergmeister completed a lap of the 20.6 kilometer Nordschleife of the German circuit in the 718 Cayman GT4 RS in 7 minutes and 4.51 seconds.

To put that into perspective: the 718 Cayman GT4 without RS addition, which was previously the absolute top version of the 718 range, was no less than 23.6 seconds ‘slower’ on the Eifel circuit.

The RS variant of the 718 Cayman GT4 brings well-known RS recipes to the naturally slow crack nose. According to Porsche, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS is lighter and more direct, and the modified spoiler provides more downforce.

Whether the 718 Cayman GT4 RS is also more powerful than the already existing RS-less variant? We assume that. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS has a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which despite the absence of turbos it kicks up to 420 hp and 420 Nm. With that, it thunders to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and only throws in the towel at 304 km/h.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS will be presented in its entirety in November. So just a little patience!
