Faster than the fastest of the faster
Is there a limit to how much faster Porsche can continue to make cars? Apparently not, because the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with Manthey Kit rounds the Nordschleife a bit more smoothly than the version without that last addition.
Once upon a time… a Porsche 718 Cayman, the Boxster’s close brother. The thickest versions do not have a four but a six-cylinder, starting with the GTS 4.0. For the real sports enthusiasts, the GT4 version follows, for the real die-hards there is the GT4 RS. At least, you would think so. There is also such a thing as a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with Manthey Kit.
Manthey Racing is fully committed to developing extra fast racing Porsches and is based at the famous Nürburgring. In collaboration with Porsche, it comes with the Manthey Kit, which includes an (even) wider rear wing, more carbon elements, a modified bottom plate, streamlined ‘aerodiscs’ for the rear wheels and a coilover set consisting of specially developed and extensively adjustable springs and shock absorbers.
The adjustments don’t miss their effect, at least if you’re someone who gets excited about driving laps on famous asphalt as fast as possible. The GT4 RS does that with the upgrades in 7:03.121, 6.179 seconds faster than the standard GT4 RS. There is no difference with the tires: both versions were on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R rubber. The Manthey Kit is ‘normally’ available through the Dutch Porsche Centers.
