Porsche is introducing a new version of its infotainment system Porsche Communication Management (PCM) for the 911, Taycan, Cayenne and Panamera. Version 6.0 has some new features and a refreshed interface.
The latest version of the PCM first of all has Spotify integration, so that you are no longer necessarily dependent on your phone for your daily portion of music and podcasts. Furthermore, Porsche owners who use Android Auto can now also do so wirelessly. Porsche also improves the voice control of the PCM, called ‘Voice Pilot’. Now you can also control the music and the manual with a voice command, among other things. To visually refresh the whole, the icons on the touchscreen are now in color instead of black and white.
The above improvements are not very earth-shattering, but for the Taycan Porsche comes with a quite functional update: the Charging Planner. This means that the car plans the route as efficiently as possible, finds the right charging stops and calculates the time of the charging. In addition, you can use a filter to sort the charging points by charging speed. That is not new or groundbreaking, but it does make it a lot easier to take long journeys with an electric Porsche.
The above updates to PCM 6.0 are immediately available on every new 911, Taycan, Cayenne or Panamera that rolls off the production line. Porsche Netherlands confirms to AutoWeek that the new functions are not available as an (over-the-air) update for existing copies of the aforementioned models.
