Porsche has existed for 75 years and the brand does not intend to let that joyous fact pass unnoticed. Porsche is celebrating its anniversary with a study model that clearly nods to its first production model, the 356. This is the Porsche Vision 357!
Later this year it will be exactly 75 years ago that Porsche produced its first car. On June 8, 1948, the Porsche 356 No.1 Roadster saw the light of day and to celebrate that anniversary, which is significant for the brand, Porsche comes with a modern nod to that model. This is the Porsche Vision 357, a design study in which Porsche says it has not allowed itself to be limited by the requirements that are placed on a car today.

Despite manufacturers presenting one electric newcomer after another, Porsche has not felt obliged to install an electric powertrain in the car. The Porsche Vision 357 has the 500 hp powertrain of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS. Complete with an atmospheric 4.0 six-cylinder boxer engine.
Yet the Porsche Vision 357 is more than just a treat that Porsche serves itself. For example, Porsche plays with the way in which the lighting is designed and calls this a ‘possible expression of future Porsche design’. You may therefore see fragments of design elements that Porsche will actually put into practice in the future. “Design studies are the source of ideas that shape the design of the future,” said design boss Michael Mauer. The Vision 357 has, among other things, hidden handles and rear lights that are incorporated in the body in a special way. The part in which the third brake light is incorporated is of course a nod to the opening in the rear of the original Porsche. According to the Germans, the 20-inch wheels are inspired by the slippers of cars such as the 356 A and 356 B. Various parts of the body are also made of NFRP, plastic reinforced with natural fibers.
