Practical consumption Nissan Qashqai: what consumption does the popular crossover achieve?

We no longer need to talk about the success of the Nissan Qashqai. The first generation already sold well, the second generation that we discuss in this article did it again. Apparently many consumers see the added value of a car that offers a little bit of everything. But does it also offer favorable fuel consumption? Practical figures from the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor provide the answer.

The second generation Nissan Qashqai was delivered between 2014 and 2021. After three years it was given a new mask and a year later the 1.2 DIG-T – actually Renault’s 1.2 TCe – was replaced by an also French 1.3 with 140 hp. Until the facelift there was also a 1.6 DIG-T with 163 hp, which was also replaced after the facelift by a 1.3 that was increased to 160 hp. We do not consider the 1.5 DCi and 1.6 DCi in this article.

Consumption Qashqai 1.2 DIG-T

Let’s first look at the ‘old’ 1.2 DIG-T, with which the twelve users record an average of 1 in 13.1 (7.7 l/100 km). With 1 in 14.6 (6.9 l/100 km) over a distance of more than 38,000 kilometers, this 1.2 DIG-T Visia is the most economical Qashqai in the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor. The least economical driver who has traveled a significant distance does so with an average consumption of 1 to 12.4 (8 l/100 km). Only three owners of the 1.6 DIG-T have kept track of their consumption, but whether they like to look back on the average consumption of 1 to 11.3 (8.9 l/100 km) is the question.

Is the new 1.3 more economical?

Then the new 1.3 engines, which made their appearance in 2018. With this engine, thirteen owners set an average of 1 to 14.6 (6.9 l / 100 km). Here we sweep the versions with 140 and 160 hp in one heap, because the engine is basically the same. Users show that we can do this reasonably safely, because both the most economical Qashqai DIG-T (1 in 16.8 / 5.9 l/100 km) and the most inefficient (1 in 12.2 / 8.2 l/100 km) is a version with 160 hp.

Anyone who likes to drive a Qashqai and values favorable fuel consumption would do well to buy a younger car. The new 1.3-litre appears to be considerably more fuel efficient than the 1.2 it replaces.
