Practical consumption Toyota Verso-S: nice and practical, a bit economical?

Some Toyotas have an iconic status, other models live in the margins. The Verso-S is one of the second category. It had a short existence, between 2011 and 2016, and has therefore had little time to embed itself in our memories. Subsequently, there was no successor. Is everything doom and gloom then? Well, the MPV turns out to be quite economical!

No, the Toyota Verso-S was not at the front when the sparkles were handed out. That’s okay, because the intended target group is often not looking for that at all. They want reliable transport, preferably somewhat economical. The fact that the reliable Toyota image is firmly attached to the Verso-S is evident from the certainly not cheap used prices. You can see below what the consumption does.

Consumption Toyota Verso-S 1.3 VVT-i

Anyone who chose a Toyota Verso-S had no choice in terms of engine in any case. Under the hood always purrs a 1.3-liter VVT-i four-cylinder with 99 hp. This means that the fourteen Verso-S drivers who submitted their fuel receipts in the AutoWeek Consumption Monitor achieved an average of 1 in 16.1 (6.2 l/100 km). We cheated a little, because the measurements also included one Subaru Trezia. Indeed, the same car with a different badge.

The most economical Verso-S driver achieves a consumption of 1 in 17.8 (5.61 l/100 km) over a distance of 3,333 kilometers. We would of course like to see a little more mileage and be served by the second most economical driver. This score is negligibly lower at 1 in 17.7 (5.64 l/100 km), but the measurement covers more than five years and 64,523 kilometers. That’s something for you!

The most unfavorable consumption is 1 in 13.6 (7.3 l/100 km). This was measured in nine months, during which 14,363 kilometers passed under the compact Toyota. Presumably with a slightly sturdier right foot, because we usually see that more kilometers actually result in better fuel consumption. The conclusion: such a Toyota Verso-S may seem a bit insignificant, but it is a practical and – if you pay a little attention – economical car.
