QJMotor SRK 921 RR: 163 hp Supersport with MV genes

The first MV with the new 921cc inline four, announced years ago, has yet to be put on the market, but the Chinese QJMotor has now outpaced its Italian partner with the presentation of the SRK 921 RR, a 163 hp Supersport with MV traits that can be expected before the summer of 2025.

QJMotor SRK 921 RR: 163 hp Supersport with MV genes

Not much is known yet – the only thing that has been officially communicated is the spec sheet with technical information – but that plus an extensive image gallery including details is enough to form a good impression of the SRK 921 RR, the second Supersport model from QJMotor for the European market that was unveiled this week at the EICMA in Milan.

The SRK 921 RR is powered by the 921cc four-cylinder in-line engine that was developed in consultation with MV Agusta and was already used by the Italians in the super cool 921 S prototype last year. The newly developed four-cylinder, which gets its 921cc capacity from a bore x stroke of 78 x 48.2 mm, is specified for a top power of 163 hp at 13,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 90 Nm at 11,000 rpm.

That’s enough to drive highly illegal speeds in no time, except on the German Autobahn, but not too much so that you can’t take a hit on the street. Certainly not when you take into account the curb weight of 223 kilos, which is quite a lot by Supersport standards, although that can also be said of the current SRK 800 RR and it too fared better than expected on the track.

The engine appears to be equipped with an extensive electronics package, as the detail photo shows with a button on the steering wheel for launch control. If this is already provided as standard, then it is inevitable that it will also have multiple driving modes with things such as adjustable traction control. Whether or not controlled by an IMU and therefore dependent on the angle of inclination, but given the collaboration with MV we are betting that it will be with IMU.

In terms of design, the SRK 921 RR has features of the SRK 800 RR, but there are also clear MV influences. The shape of the side-mounted rear silencers, for example, or the single-sided rear suspension and a particularly attractive rear wheel. The finish looks at MV level and the large TFT color display also looks very nice and you can connect one of the images to your smartphone.

What else do we know? The SRK 921 RR is (just like the 800 RR) equipped with premium equipment: a fully adjustable Marzocchi upside down front fork, an equally adjustable Marzocchi monoshock at the rear, mounted in a frame that consists of a combination of aluminum gussets and a chrome-molybdenum steel truss tubular frame. Indeed, as MV has been doing for years.

Brakes are provided by Brembo, with dual 320mm discs and radial Monobloc four-piston calipers at the front and a single 260mm disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. Of course equipped with ABS. The SRK 921 RR is equipped with a steering damper as standard (also from Marzocchi), and thanks to that tool, QJ has been able to keep the wheelbase quite short at 1,425 mm for a 163 hp Supersport. Finally, we can report that the SRK 921 RR has a seat height of 835 mm, which is 20 mm higher than the SRK 800 RR.
