Quick Settings in the revamped Outlook.com bundles a number of commonly used options.
Quickly set up Outlook
Outlook.com has a set of handy quick settings. In it, Microsoft has brought together a number of commonly used options. They can also be found elsewhere in the full settings menu, but the ‘Quick Settings’ option saves you that search.
Quick Settings
- Go to Outlook.com and log in.
- Click on the gear in the top right corner of the blue bar.
- The quick settings are immediately visible. We go through the options one by one.
- Under ‘Theme’ you can choose a different color and atmosphere for Outlook.com with one mouse click. click on View all themes to get more choices.
- Under Dark Mode, give Outlook.com a dark appearance with white text.
- In ‘Show density’ you determine the distance between messages in the message list.
- Under ‘Conversation view’ you can change the way the messages are displayed. All replies to a post together with the newest posts at the top or bottom, or just all posts in the order they arrive.
- Under ‘Reading pane’, specify whether you want a preview pane to the right or bottom, or no pane at all.
- ‘Focused Inbox’. Turn this on if you want Outlook.com to divide the mails into two tabs: ‘Priority’ and ‘Other’.
- Indicate under ‘Desktop notifications’ whether you want to receive a notification on the screen for new mails.
