The delivery range of the Volvo XC40 has been rapidly expanded with various plug-in versions. However, Volvo is not ready yet, because now the less powerful XC40 Recharge T4 plug-in hybrid makes its appearance.
Volvo has already parked the fully electric P8 Recharge version and the 262 hp T5 plug-in hybrid in the price list of the XC40 in a year. Now the less powerful and with that also considerably milder priced T4 plug-in hybrid is heard. In this version, the 129 hp 1.5-liter three-cylinder (from the T2) works together with an 82 hp electric motor. The system power is 211 hp. The fully electric range is 45 kilometers (WLTP). That is exactly as much as the T5 plug-in.
As said, the price of the T4 is a bit milder, because you can get in from € 43,995. That saves € 3,500 with the more powerful plug-in. With the other non-plugged versions, it is striking that the significantly less powerful T3 (163 hp) also costs € 43,995. The T4 plug-in hybrid comes in two versions: the Inscription Expression and the R-Design Expression. Standard features include a comprehensive package of safety features, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and Park Assist at the rear.
To further increase the difference between the two plug-in hybrids, Volvo has also examined the T5 plug-in version. In addition, the equipment levels have been reduced to three (from the Business Pro) and the T5 version is now also available with Polestar Engineered optimization. In addition to more power (276 hp and 440 Nm of torque), the XC40 gets a more playful character with, for example, a faster response to the accelerator.
All plug-in hybrid XC40s are allowed to tow 1,800 kg. You can order immediately.
