Renault has brought in Gilles Vidal to strengthen its design department. Vidal earned his spurs with the competitor: Groupe PSA.
A day after the news that Gilles Vidal will leave PSA after 25 years, it is announced that the Frenchman will now work for Renault. Vidal was chief designer at Peugeot, but functions at Renault under chief designer Laurens van den Acker. From November this year, the 47-year-old designer will start at Renault. This also seems to be the rumor that the chief designer of Seat at Renault is going to work.
With the appointment of Vidal, Renault is gaining a big name. Vidal was already working in the design department at the end of the 90s and contributed to the creation of the C4 and C4 Picasso, among other things. Later he moved on to PSA within PSA, where he was at the drawing board from 2009. The current Peugeots 508, 208 and 3008 were created under Vidal’s creative leadership. Vidal is succeeded at Peugeot by Matthias Hossan, who has worked at Peugeot since 2002 and was jointly responsible for the modern reincarnation of the legendary Peugeot 504 Coupé, the E-Legend Concept.
