With hundreds of millions of downloads worldwide, Waze is one of the most popular navigation apps ever. You can of course use it on your phone or on Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, but with Renault the app is now also available in its own infotainment.
If you do not want to navigate via the factory navigation system of a car or do not have a navigation system at all, you can choose from various apps to navigate via the phone. You can also install various navigation apps in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Renault now makes it possible to navigate with Waze directly from the OpenR Link infotainment.
One of the advantages of Waze is that it uses live traffic information to optimize the route you drive. That in itself is far from exceptional these days, but Waze makes full use of active feedback from users. This should lead to the most accurate route guidance possible. Renault therefore expects a lot from it: “We are convinced that Waze users will appreciate this new feature if they drive the Renault Austral or Megane E-Tech Electric.” You don’t need to connect a smartphone to use it. The Waze app will roll out to OpenR Link in the listed models next year and will be free to install.
