No longer just a workhorse
The first generation Renault Twingo is slowly earning a somewhat different status. The characteristic workhorse has grown into a cult car. There are fans for that, right?
The first Renault Twingo can rightly be called one of Renault’s nicest creations ever. It was not the most beautiful Renault, not the sportiest, not the most practical and not the most economical, but it was one of the most mischievous. In all its simplicity but at the same time with a fresh appearance, the Twingo managed to attract the attention of many car editors in the early 1990s. The dealers also quickly noticed that Renault had achieved something good, because the Twingos were selling like hot cakes (also here in the Netherlands).
In 1997, about four years after the appearance of the Twingo, this red copy flew over it. So, off to its first owner. With this he formed a combination that almost seemed made for eternity, although they would part ways after more than twenty years. A remarkably long time, that is. Together they took it nice and easy, because the little Renault only has 94,000 km on the odometer. The three owners who came after did not drive it for enormous distances either. Not surprising, after all, the Twingo mainly proves itself in urban areas, although you can also use it further away from home. You can even make a kind of double bed from the front and rear seats!
If you have always wanted to try that out, then this Twingo is probably a safe option. Well, not much can go wrong with a Twingo, but it still looks quite fresh and therefore has a decent mileage. The asking price of €1,499 is not necessarily crazy either. They have been cheaper and you can still find them for less, but then you also get one that is a bit more tired. If it is as fresh as it seems, it will probably be worth more rather than less.
